Honey, we need to head over to Rideau Ferry & check this waterfront beauty out!

Not only is it minutes from Rideau Ferry, but its a short distance away from that old fashioned drive in theatre I told you about in Port Elmsley. Having our boat tied up at the 40' dock & being able to boat to Kingston or Ottawa is a dream come true! 100' of waterfront & a clean beach of our own hits my sweet spot too. In the winter that indoor pool & sauna will keep us healthy & in touch with our love of water. The architecturally interesting floor plan & curb presence on a private cul de sac is peeking my interest. With 5 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, 2 water view decks & an amazing balcony with more gorgeous views from the master suite, we have room for everyone. They just may never want to leave! I promise, that kitchen inspires my foodie side & did you see the pantry/laundry room? Chores will be easy. Two fireplaces, two pellet stoves & soaring ceilings with sunlight streaming in. Where are the keys? We have to go!

Big Rideau Lake

“With a surface area of over 100 sq. km., Big Rideau Lake is the largest body of water in eastern Ontario. Its assembly of bays and islands give it a shape as unique as any fingerprint. With a geological history that spans a billion years, the Big Rideau Lake is a blue gem set among some of the oldest rocks and minerals of our continent.” - Doug Bond with the Big Rideau Lake Association

This lake is controlled by a canal system called the Rideau Canal Waterway. With 45 locks at 23 stations along the canal, Rideau Waterway connects to more than nine lakes including Big Rideau Lake, Lower Rideau Lake, Upper Rideau Lake, Newboro Lake, Clear Lake, Indian Lake, Opinicon Lake, Sand Lake, and Whitefish Lake. Many of the locks operate today much as they did 160 years ago with big wooden doors and hand cranks. The Rideau Canal Waterway has been in continuous operation since it first opened in 1832.

The lake has great fishing with the most popular species caught being Largemouth Bass, Lake Trout, and Northern Pike.
