I'm Lorie Ann Warren and I'm proud to be a RE/MAX Realtor.

I've been pursuing this career for a long while now (I won't say how long; a lady never tells how long she's been a realtor). Over those many years, I've learned a few things.

I've learned that to build a real estate business, you have to be true with people. There are all sorts of short-term tricks – overpricing homes, dodgy financing, things like that. And they work for some people in the short run. But if you're in it for the long haul, tell the truth.

I've learned that integrity will get you far. A strong moral compass will bring you success in life and in business. So I stick to my word. I don't promise what I can't deliver. But if I say I'm going to do something, I do it. Every time. It's a promise you can take to the bank.

But most of all I have learned that this real estate business is all about relationships. I have clients who, over many years, have bought and sold properties with me. They started out as clients and have become true friends.

Humphrey Bogart famously said in the film Casablanca "this could be the start of a beautiful friendship".

Today when I'm privileged to meet a new client I don't see it as a quick-and-easy real estate sale. I always think to myself "this could be the start of a great relationship".

I'm Michael Warren and (though you wouldn't know it from looking at our photos because I'm so much prettier) Lorie Ann is actually my Mom.

It's a family business.

Mom had been in real estate for quite a while and I looked at it and thought she's happy, her clients are happy and she's doing good work helping people with their real estate goals. So I thought that's good solid work that I can do and be proud of.

So here I am. Part of the team. These days, I mostly work with buyers.

When I started in this career I thought it would be all about being some sort of fast- talking slick salesman going on about features and upgrades and new carpets and such.

But it's not. It's all about listening. It's about understanding what sort of space you want to live. It's about understanding what kind of community you want to live in.

The more I listen and the more I understand the better I'm able to combine that with my acquired knowledge of the Ottawa market to introduce you to properties that fit your lifestyle.

My job is not to drag you all over town looking at everything and anything hoping that something sticks.

My job is to show you a select group of properties that are so in touch with your hopes and needs that your only problem is deciding which one to go for.

Marty Oswald brings a passion for life to his real estate career, a passion that guides him from the first day meeting new clients until long after they are in their new home.

Marty loves architecture and homes and helping people find the place where they are going to be “creating their life experiences” for the coming years.

“It brings a great sense of pride and fulfilment.”

Marty calls it an exciting adventure when asked to explain his enthusiasm for helping clients purchase a home. “To help somebody at a really challenging time with a huge step like this – it’s like helping someone pick a spouse. It is a huge adventure.”

Marty’s more than 14 years of experience allows him to stick up for his clients and look out for their interests throughout the process of searching for the right home through the research phase and through the final negotiations of the transaction itself.

His continuous desire to learn and hone his skills led Marty to become an Accredited Buyer

Representative (ABR) and Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE) along with his special designation for working with Seniors (ASA).

“The market is always changing, so it’s important to be on top of the latest trends and developments,” he says, adding that knowledge leads to better representation for his clients. Marty says it also helps him dig deeper to better understand their needs.

“The more information you have the better negotiations you have.”

Being part of the Lorie Ann Warren Team combines their individual expertise and brings it to a new level. “Her integrity and her caring about people and her passion, energy and excitement about getting the job done – she is the genuine article. Who she is in front of you is ho she is in front of me. That’s cool.” When he isn’t helping clients, Marty enjoys both playing guitar in a band and enjoying a rich knowledge of the music industry. He also believes in living life to the fullest, recently completing a “bucket list” adventure by visiting Africa. “It was the most amazing experience of my life.” Marty is also a lover of world history, studying the development of Europe, the evolution of politics and the history of rock and roll.
